Tune-Ups
At Hanford’s Tire and Service we want to make sure your vehicle is performing at maximum efficiency. In order to maximize gas mileage and engine power output, a regular tune up is needed. Tune ups should be done at least every 50 000 kilometers or every 2 years. Sometimes a tune-up gets overlooked as it is not a major service component. However if many little things are not properly maintained it can result in a bigger problem down the road.
Here is an example of what happens at a tune up
Fuel filter replacement. A clogged fuel filter can cause a vehicle to lose power and efficiency.
Change spark plugs and plug wires. This can also cause your vehicle to be inefficient if there is a bad spark plug or wire.
Replace distributor cap and rotor.
Inspect ignition system and timing. Some older vehicles rely on the timing of the ignition.
Adjust valves and inspect gaskets to ensure there is no leaks
Inspect belts and replace them if needed
Check all fluids in the vehicle and top off any that are low
Change oil and filter if it is needed
Inspect oil filter and replace if needed
In a car with a manual transmission, inspect and adjust the clutch
Inspect and service battery. Clean cables and terminals.
Each car has a slightly different tune up process. If you have any questions or would like to bring your car in for a tune up contact us or visit us at one of our two locations in London Ontario.
